Biography

Paul Gill is the founder of Bioclinical Data Services which was incorporated in 1998. His experience includes over 20 years of SAS programming with the last 14 years dedicated to programming and validation in clinical trials.

In addition to his extensive SAS coding experience, he has often taken a lead role in software validation projects. One of his more involved projects involved the validation of a 50,000 line SAS system converted into the C programming language.

Mr. Gill is the author of The Next Step: Integrating the Software Lifecycle with SAS Programming (SAS Institute Inc. 1997). This book instructs readers how to use SAS as it applies to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC.) In addition, an entire chapter of this book is dedicated to the software engineering principles of validation including black box, white box and gray box testing. Other validation topics include data flow analysis, unit and systems testing, equivalence partitioning and boundary value analysis.

Prior to entering the computer industry, Mr. Gill was employed as a pharmaceutical sales representative. One of his roles was to assist in training by presenting lectures in various topics in physiology.

He received his Masters degree in the Physiology of Exercise from University of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Gill always takes the lead role on any validation assignment and works closely with his people and clients to ensure that our work is not only accurate but contains the proper documentation as expected by the FDA.
